In 1926 Edward and Ellen Handford moved out of London and bought East Sussex Press, a print company in Crowborough, Sussex. Since 1993, Mark Handford and his sister Bridget have been the owners of the business and it is their drive, enthusiasm and knowledge that has brought together the team of 274 dedicated staff who run Pureprint Group 24-hours a day. Today Pureprint Group is one of the leading award-winning print and marketing solutions providers in the UK.
In 2004 East Sussex Press acquired nearby Beacon Press which had built a reputation as the UK’s leading environmental printer, and since 1990 had developed the innovative and award-winning pureprint® environmental printing technology. In 2006 all production was moved into purpose built premises in Uckfield, creating a single company offering, a wide range of printing and print-related services and a cultural commitment to sustainable printing. The business was renamed Pureprint Group and is driven by an enthusiasm for marketing and print solutions, technical innovation and sustainability.
In 2008 Pureprint Group was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development, won the Business in the Community Impact on Society Award of Excellence and was listed as one of the UK’s leading green companies in The Sunday Times Green List. In 2009 Pureprint Group won the PrintWeek Report and Account Printer of the Year award and in 2010 the PrintWeek Fine Art Printer of the Year, Book Printer of the Year and Environmental Printer of the Year awards.
In 2013 Pureprint Group won the Queen's Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development (the third time winning this award), at the PrintWeek Awards was awarded Book, Fine Art and Report & Accounts Printer of the Year, won the Digital Printer Awards Marketing Collateral, Books and Photobooks, Year books and Hard Cover Reports categories and lastly at the Print, Design and Marketing awards won the Direct Mail category. Following on from this success in 2014 Pureprint won the PrintWeek Book Printer of the Year, Luxury Packagng Printer of the Year and was commended in 6 other categories as well as being awarded the Print, Design & Marketing Awards for Direct Mail (3 years running) and Environmental.
In January 2015 Pureprint Group acquired a majority shareholding in Imprint Group, based in Newcastle Upon Tyne financing the deal with part of the recent £5.3 million investment from Business Growth Fund. Imprint Group are one of the UK's leading manufacturers and suppliers of point of sale, point of purchase and large format outdoor media.

We have a team of over 400 professionals, and we run our business 24-hours a day. 250 of our team are at the Uckfield digital and litho sites, 130 in Imprint our large format division and a number spread around local offices from Leeds to Frome. We have 200 people working directly with our customers, providing everything they need, from estimates and account management support, through to technical and environmental briefings, and around 200 people working on implementation, production and other support services.
Our main production facilities are 80,000 square feet of purpose-built space in Uckfield, East Sussex. It is here that we have our dedicated digital factory with 5 HP Indigo digital presses and finishing facilties and our specialist litho factory with colour management and pre-press and proofing team and studio, plate making and 4 Heidelberg XL presses equipped with the highest specifications as well as print finishing, storage, fulfilment and mailing. In Newcastle we have Imprint our large format printing facility who provide service from creative concept through to production, storage, ordering and distribution through Additions their unique in-house developed on-line promotional management tool.

Our new software applications make it possible to handle printing projects in more efficient and cost-effective ways. We are currently recruiting for a Junior and a Senior Software and Web Developer/Architect based at our Uckfield site
Main Purpose of Job: To identify, develop, implement and maintain Web based IT systems, seeking new ways to enhance services for clients generating true value and giving Pureprint Group a competitive edge, allowing the company to retain customers and actively grow the business in the marketplace.

Key Responsibilities: Identify and design IT based systems specifications to enhance Pureprint Group customer experiences and offer new products and services. Research, Develop and implement IT systems in co-ordination with the IT team, operation managers and operational staff. Ensure that team deadlines and milestones are developed and met. Utilise available resources effectively, ensuring that they are fully utilised and regularly report on activity and achievements. Ensure that all deadlines are met or exceeded. Ensure that all IT systems and associated databases are constantly available and that client facing systems achieve all service level agreements. Propose new Web based client focussed products and services to the sales and marketing team, seeking feedback and market information on potential system take up. Constantly seek new and innovative ways to improve efficiency and communication utilising Information technology. Implement IT systems in co-ordination with the management team and operational staff. Maintain IT systems and all associated databases ensuring 100% availability on existing systems. Ensure all of our customers both internal and external receive an exceptional level of quality and service in all dealings with us. Ongoing management and development of the Pureprint Group customer facing system software systems in conjunction with regular senior management interaction. Support the developed systems ensuring that any issues are resolved in a timely manner. Maintain a clean and tidy work environment ensuring that all waste materials are disposed of in the correct prescribed manner and in the correct waste bin. Adhere to all Health and Safety Rules and regulations.

Working at our Uckfield, East Sussex manufacturing site in a young and dynamic team we can offer an exciting career opportunity to the right candidate. The successful applicant of this full time, office based position, will be required to build a good working relationship with existing and new clients delivering outstanding customer service. We are looking for candidates who have customer service experience, are able to work to daily, weekly and monthly targets, and have excellent IT and communication skills.
