Embassy of Brazil

The Art of Diplomacy was hinged around the small original booklet printed in London in 1944 using letterpress. The main aim was to integrate the history of the original facsimile booklet with the main book, but for it to be visible from the front.

Our colour manager scanned and descreened the images and produced a facsimile of the original. The scan of the cover was used for the colour and visual texture for the paper case.

We offered several prototypes for our customer to consider using various methods of holding the booklet before agreeing on the final direction, incorporating a pocket and window in the front cover. We added a matt laminate to create a smooth even finish to the translucent jacket which was designed to supply a hint of intrigue, subtlety showing the booklet beneath.  The aperture with neat turn ins and the die cut Black Colorplan liner and pocket was executed by hand.

Our expertise in colour management, print and finishing techniques and extensive knowledge of materials ensures that we are able to offer the bespoke and stunning finish our customers require.
