SEND NUDES – Sophie Tea Art
We have worked with contemporary artist Sophie Tea to produce her first coffee table book celebrating her SEND NUDES era. SEND NUDES utilises a collection of carefully selected speciality papers with a range of surfaces, finishes and textures throughout. Using the finest materials sourced from across the world each adds a different characteristic to such a vibrant book bringing designs and photographs to life in print.
Our print, materials, finishing and packaging experts along with our Colour Manager all worked collaboratively with Sophie herself and her team to create a dramatic coffee table book which would be truly unique and treasured.
The book cover is on Skivertex Vicuana made in the USA and from Winters & Co. A premium grade imitation leather cover material with a tactile feel and premium finish, matching the box to keep the book in pristine condition. The endpapers and accompanying letter/certificate use Sirio Pearl Misty Rose from Fedrigoni, a stunning pearlescent sheet made in Italy. 316 text pages follow on Arctic Matt, a high bulk coated paper with a soft, white surface and a natural feel manufactured in Sweden by Arctic Paper. This is an archival sheet which will not discolour over time.
36 pages of G . F Smith Colorplan run throughout which was made to our client’s own bespoke shade ‘Sophie Tea Pink’ manufactured sustainably in the Lake District (UK) which also has a Morocco surface embossing added to one side, to emulate the cover material chosen. A natural uncoated coloured sheet expertly formulated with G . F Smith to create their own personalised shade further printed and gold foiled across the book. This paper shade went on to be colour matched to a paint code for our client’s latest Carnaby St Gallery for continuity across mediums.
A honey gold double faced satin ribbon marker makes each copy totally unique after being flown to Australia and hand splatted by Sophie in her Sydney studio with the colour matched paint from the London Gallery.

- Golden Girl adds a whole new print element to the book being printed digitally on the very HP Indigo presses which are calibrated to print on a genuine canvas substrate connecting the real paintings to this celebration of the era in book form. The original artwork had gold leaf hand applied to delicate parts of the nude form so naturally we have re-created this with gold foiled areas as an extra special touch.
- Holographic nude also printed digitally onto a true silk sheet with an additional holographic prism laminate all over to again emulate the real life artwork with light refracting holo vibes over the painting.
Chapters of content and hundreds of pages thread sewn in sections and case bound together as one finished piece with an additional gold gilt edge to shine above any other coffee table book.
A matching box was engineered by our packaging team to hold the book, wrapped in the same cover material with a sleek gold shoulder insert and reveal running through the middle thanks to a German made sheet Gmund Gold ‘History’ which contains real gold fleck.
